Leading Drummer Claus Olsen Claus started
playing the drums at the age of 11 in the local Marching Show Band, Peder Most
Garden. By coincidence at a Marching Band Rally in Germany he saw the Swedish Pipe Band Griffin Pipes and Drums and found out that a Pipe Band had been founded in his native town of Svendborg and that started his carreer of Pipe Band Drumming. Claus started out in Dungillie getting tuition from Heidi Johansen former Leading Drummer of Heather Pipes and Drums grade 4. Heidi was now also playing the Pipes and was therefore a indispencable tutor of Pipe and Drum students. After six month of tuition Claus went to his 1st. Competition wich was the Copenhagen Winter Competition at Zahles School in Copenhagen in 1981, wich got him a 3. place in "March beginners". At the Competition Claus was introduced to Tine Mathari, who played with Heather Pipes & Drums and she became a great inspiration for Claus in years to come. During the years Claus played with The Heather Pipes and Drums, Clan Rose Pipes and Drums, together with Tine Mathari, as well as The Copenhagen Caledonia Pipe Band with Leading Drummer Per Nørklit Jensen. For more inspiration Claus started traveling to Scotland to be taught by David Brown Senior and his son David Brown Junior, former Leading Drummer of Bucksburn and District Pipe Band from Aberdeen. In the season 1990/1991 Claus was Leading Drummer for Heather Pipes and Drums "A" with Pipe Major Tue Johannesen. I 1992 Claus returned to Dungillie Pipe Band and became Leading Drummer. Stil being Leading Drummer in Dungillie Pipe Band Claus is one of the longest reigning Leading Drummers in Scandinavia. With Claus as Leading Drummer the Drumcorps has brought home several Danish Championships in 1998, 1999, 2003 ,2004 and 2006.
